I love this coffee grinder. It's compact and the cord winds up inside of it. It makes for very easy storage. It's also very easy to clean. There is no reason to purchase an expensive grinder when this does just as good of a job. I'm buying a 2nd one to grind up spices.

The unit is easy to use, convenient. Cord wrap up is great. Nice size to sit on your cabinet. I use for grinding my Flax Seeds I take daily for health. It's the perfect size for daily usage to grind the flax seeds. Excellent for small quantity.

I see people complaining about this grinder being too small... uh, it's SUPPOSED to be small! That would be like buying an 18-wheeler tractor trailer and cab and then complaining that the truck was too big!!!

Anyway, for a small grinder, this thing is great. I use it not only for coffee, but for flax seeds and just about anything else I need to grind up in small quantities. If you often find yourself wanting to grind a pound of coffee, then *obviously* this is too small for you though.

    Customer Reviews

    By silvergirl (Wisconsin, United States)
I chucked my old burr grinder in favor of something more substantial, and the KitchenAid steps up to the plate.

    A couple of cons:

    1) It is big. It comes close to the size of my coffee maker in terms of space. Fortunately, I have a big kitchen.
    2) No automatic off. Simple Off/On toggle on the side.

    Many Pros:

    1) Again, substantial glass and metal presentation. You get what you pay for. Did it ever occur to you all the old metal and glass mixers and appliances in grandma's kitchen that have been beaten within an inch of their life, but still work after all these years? Invest in something that's made to last, period. I wanted an anti-static glass coffee receptacle (I can't stand when the ground coffee flies all over the counter from a plastic container), and a metal appliance. Great presence on the countertop. Beam me up scotty.
    2) Well constructed. Really not much to assemble, and the unit fits together well, unlike its plastic cousins. I like the way that the ground coffee falls 180 degrees downward from the grinder. Previous burr grinders that I've owned tend to have the hopper on top, grinder in the middle, and then will spit the ground coffee out at a 90 degree angle from the grinder. This creates pockets where ground coffee tends to gum up the mechanism (especially if you're using an oily bean). This design, although big in size, uses gravity to move the ground coffee through.
    3) Quieter than a number of other burr grinders that I've owned. (a bonus for quelling caffeine-withdrawal headache issues in the AM)
    4) Pretty uniform ground size. I'm not making espresso with this grinder, so I can't report how finely it grinds, but as a new owner, I'm in the process of titrating the perfect grind size for my metal cone filter. The manufacturer's book comes with setting suggestions. I'm not a complete coffee freak, but I do tend to use only "top shelf" coffees that I order direct from plantations. Coffee represents my daily luxury, and this grinder preserves the flavor of the bean.
    5) Good resale value. I know this is an odd thing to look at as a pro, because, why re-sell it? But, not everything fits hand and glove. I was searching for a used one on e-bay and saw that the same model used was selling for about 60 cents on the dollar. Beats that "pre-owned" car you were looking at.

I looked around for coffee grinders and for the quality of materials and workmanship, this really is the best long-term deal on the market. I just couldn't see paying several hundred dollars more for an italian grinder when this machine is much better than adequate. I've had good luck with this manufacturer in the past.

This KitchenAid ProLine Burr Coffee Grinder is great! The grind is perfect. Plenty of choices if you want it coarser or finer. And it's really quiet compared to other burr grinders. Easy to keep clean. And I love that the bean hopper and coffee bin are made of glass, not plastic. I have no hesitation recommending this machine.

By Christy Campbell (New Orleans, Louisiana USA)
Let me say I abuse my coffee grinders. The ones I have had in the past have died young because I have dropped them in a dopey morning pre-coffee daze. I have dropped the Cuisinart numerous times and it is warped on one side from me leaving it on the gas stove with the oven on...IT STILL WORKS..just as well as the day it arrived. Best purchase I have made yet and I would buy another but I don't need to.

By Alex J. Avriette "Alex Avriette" (Arlington, Virginia USA)
This grinder lives in my kitchen right next to my sink. It is subjected to a continual flow of crud coming out of the sink and floods from coffee spills, and sink overflows, flying dough and vegetables, the works. It is extremely sturdy, and does tend to grind my coffee just as I like.
My only complaint is that it is a little hard to clean; but then I've never had a coffee grinder that was easy to clean.

By Sarah N. Balzac (Palmdale, CA and Caguas, PR United States)
Considering the low price, I was kind of scared of whether or not it would be able to grind my beans fine enough for my espresso maker. I am a struggling college student, so a more expensive machine was not an option. When I got home, it was too late for a late so as I was checking my email on one browser I was looking at online reviews on another. I looked at reviews for more expensive machines where people complained that it couldn't grind fine enough, so if those pricier ones couldn't do it, nor could mine I thought. Wrong! It can and I am very happy with my purchase.

    Customer Review

    By Sandia Man (New Mexico)

I have used three grinders in the past 5 years, one blade and two wheel burr grinders, all broke or were dusty and noisy. This is the first conical wheel grinder I have owned and I cannot compare it to its comparable competitor, the Capresso, and I have only used it a dozen times or so, However, I am impressed by its quality, it is beautifully made and the huge reduction in noise was most welcome. The big plus...I set the timer, press start and walk away, no holding lids down, no coffee flying around etc. Just for the reduction in noise, its quality and the fire and forget operation makes it a 5. It grinds coffee very consistently and the grind is adjusted easily. Is it perfect? No. Two items I noticed. It has a 30 second timer...I need more time so I set it for 20 seconds and do two grinds...not an issue but for me, but wanted to tell you. Second, the ground coffee compartment is shaped in a manner that has insets so its not as easy to clean out and I have to empty the coffee carefully. Still I recommend this and am impressed. It is quality!I will provide a six month review to see if this maintains its operation.

After six months my initial views remain the same, a very fine grinder!

    Customer Review

    By M. Davis (Delaware, USA)
I couldn't recommend this grinder more highly. It is solidly constructed, and the manufacturer took the time to add all the little details that are missing on cheaper models, like no-slip feet and a retractable cord (which is a little short, perhaps the one negative to this otherwise perfect product). The stainless steel grinder bowl is well designed - it has gradiated markings to let you know how many beans to put in for the number of cups of coffee you intend to brew, and it perfectly grinds the beans to your desired coarsness. In addition, it is removable AND dishwasher safe, making for easy cleaning.

The machine's slim, tall profile is ideal for easy on-counter or cabinet storage, and the black / stainless steel finish is attractive and a good match to most major coffee maker and espresso machine brands. The grinder provides multiple different settings for different coarsness and the amount of beans you are grinding, and since the grinding time is pre-set you can just push the button and move on to doing something else while the coffee grinds. It may take the "art" out of coffee grinding, but it will give you a great cup of coffee every time.

A final note - you may feel constrained by the pre-set options, but they still provide quite a bit of flexibility. If you like your coffee weaker, just put in a few less beans than your desired cup mark would call for (or vice versa if you like your coffee stronger). Having the specific settings means that when your experimenation finally comes out the way you want it to, you'll be able to remember next time ("oh, I used the 4-cup measure of beans to 8 cups of water, and I ground it on the medium-coarse setting") rather than having to try to guess at what you did to get that "perfect cup."

I can't imagine anything else that I would want in a grinder - the only semi-common option that it is missing is extra storage for beans or ground coffee; these features are not missed, however, as I always grind my beans fresh and I store them in a cool, dry airtight container. Storing your beans or grounds in the grinder is a sure way to ruin their taste.

Is this the perfect grinder? I'd say so. I give it a perfect 5/5.

    Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinders

    Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinders

    Amazon.com Review
For grinding larger quantities of coffee beans for a coffee-drinking crowd, Capresso's commercial-grade Infinity grinder handles 8-1/2 ounces of beans at a time. Sixteen different settings--four each in the four categories of extra fine, fine, regular, and coarse--let you adjust the grind to the specific blend of coffee and method of brewing.

The finest setting is ideal for preparing Turkish coffee, which is a rare feature to find in a grinder. A built-in timer sets the grind for anywhere between 5 and 60 seconds so you can walk away without having to constantly press a button to continue the grinding process.

The Infinity has an advanced conical burr design made of steel that is usually only found on commercial grinders. This burr design slows down the gears and reduces the amount of friction and heat to preserve coffee's flavor and aroma.

The coffee container holds up to 4 ounces of grounds and remains sealed during grinding. For safety, the bean container also needs to be locked into place for the Infinity to operate. For easy cleaning, the bean container and upper burr lift off so you can clean the grinding chamber with the included brush and wipe down the heavy-duty zinc die-cast housing.

The 100-watt burr grinder measures 7-2/3 by 5-2/5 by 10-4/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

So far, this grinder has been perfect. It is my second Black and Decker; the first was a different model that lasted for years. I had tried two different brands, neither of which worked nearly as well as the B&D. I use it mainly to grind up grape-nuts slightly! But it has also done well on coffee beans and to make bread crumbs. I'm surprised to read about the problem; I'll be on the lookout for it.

Mr. Coffee Electric Coffee Grinder with Chamber Maid Cleaning System

Mr. Coffee Electric Coffee Grinder with Chamber Maid Cleaning System

    Review from customer:
L.Shirley (Fountain Valley, CA United States)

This review refers to Mr. Coffee - Coffee Grinder With Chamber Maid Cleaning System"

I received this coffee grinder this past Christmas, and have been using it everyday since. Sometimes, depending on how many people are drinking coffee, twice or more a day. I loved it so much from the start and wanted to review it right away, but managed to restrain myself, and after three months of everyday use, I think I can safely say, this grinder is great!

It's nice to have freshly ground coffee at a moment's notice. Even the smell is enticing. It allows you to measure just the amount of beans you need from 4 to 12 cups, and then you set the grinder to the amount and the grind - fine, medium, or coarse - depending on how strong you like it. This may take some experimenting to see get it exactly to your taste. For example I have found that 4 cups for me is actually closer to 2(or less), as I drink from a large mug and not a 6oz cup. There are recommendations in the instruction book and on the grinder as well for how many tablespoons of beans per cup. I find I need a little more then suggested. There are indicator lights to help you choose the setting you want. Although you have to hold a button down, during the grinding process, it will automatically turn off when it is done according to your setting. If you lift your finger, it will also turn off. Occasionally there are a couple of beans not grinded, so shake it around and press for another second or two. The actually grinding process takes maybe 15 seconds for a full 12 cups. another nice thing, is that you can have a few different flavors on hand, and freshly grind, whatever you are in the mood for..Forget Starbucks!

The grinder has some very nice features. Inside the bean chamber, which also has a fill line, there is a cleaning system that scrapes the coffee of the sides and the bottom. Sometimes, there is even enough scraped off to make an extra cup. The pieces fit together easily, and come apart easily for washing. At first, I thought the cord was very short, and for weeks had to keep the grinder very close to to the electric outlet, but then I discovered(DUH!), the cord lifts out of it's holder and around the bottom edge, giving it quite a bit of length. Then is easy to recoil to keep the grinder wherever you want. It's slim and nice looking and doesn't take up much space at all. My only little complaint, and reason for four stars instead of 5, is that it is very loud. The first few times, it startled me with the racket. I'm not sure if much can be done about that, but I try to remember to grind my beans the night before, as I am an early riser and don't want to wake the rest of the house, or for that matter, my neighbors! The lid on top stays tightly closed for freshness.

Read the instruction book for use and care. It has French as well as English directions, a one year limited warranty, troubleshooting advice, and phone numbers for questions.

All in all a great little item that works great for a fresh tasting and smelling cup of coffee anytime.
    Enjoy....Laurie

Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)

    Coffee Bean Grinder

Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)

    Amazon.com Review
A stylish grinder for the serious coffee buff, this Cuisinart Supreme Grind automatic burr mill provides plenty of options and good results in an attractive and tidy structure. This makes it a great appliance for houses where coffee is a steady dietary staple and preferences vary from espresso to French drip.

Outfitted with a heavy-duty motor, the machine has 18 grind settings ranging from fine to extra-coarse, which are controlled by a clearly marked, pleasantly clicking dial. Rotate the hopper to personal preference, and the machine does the rest, using burr plates for a highly uniform grind that protects bean oils and releases more flavor.

Automatic operation in this grinder covers quantity as well--simply set the amount slide control anywhere from 4 to 18 cups. The grinder shuts off when the desired level is reached. Transfer of ready grounds to a coffee pot or espresso group is quick and tidy, because the grind chamber slides out with its clever lid in place.

Smart and elegant, the grinder has brushed stainless steel housing and black accents in durable plastic. The hopper, hopper lid, grinding burr, and grind chamber all remove easily for cleanup, and a safety feature keeps the grinder from operating without the hopper and chamber in place. Standing 6-3/4 by 9-3/4 by 5 inches, the unit has built-in power cord storage at its base. Cuisinart includes a coffee scoop/cleaning brush in one and covers the machine with an 18-month warranty. --Emily Bedard

    Product Features
    • Elegantly styled, heavy-duty, automatic coffee mill
    • Burr grinding mechanism for uniform grounds and optimum flavor
    • 18-position grind selector, from ultra fine to coarse
    • Slide dial from 4 to 18 cups; capacious grounds chamber with lid
    • Measures 6-3/4 by 9-3/4 by 5 inches; 18-month warranty

    Customer Review
By Trey Harris (New York, NY United States)
This is the second automatic hopper-type burr grinder that I've owned. The first was the similarly-priced Capresso 551.01, which died after a couple years of use. I don't know what the lifespan of this Cuisinart grinder will be yet, but so far I'm extremely impressed with the comparison between the two. Start with the weight, at nearly 4 pounds--it simply feels more substantial. (The Capresso is a comparatively diminutive 2 lb. 9 oz.) The casing is an attractive stainless steel (which may just be a veneer over plastic, but it certainly looks nicer than the Capresso's black plastic) and the hopper and grind chamber are of thick, good-quality acrylic.

The Capresso had to be emptied before changing the grind coarseness, and had a small, finger-bruising wheel with which to adjust it, but the Cuisinart's entire hopper turns freely to adjust the grind, filled or not. I'm also very pleased to find that the Cuisinart doesn't dust the countertop with a sprinkling of coffee after use, as the Capresso did. The motor isn't whisper-quiet by any stretch, but it's not as noisy as many home grinders.

There are only two disadvantages of this grinder, in my opinion. First, the timer can only be adjusted in two-cup increments (minimum of 4 cups). It does this with a satisfying click, but still, I'd like to nudge the slider a bit for a weaker morning brew or a stronger nighttime one. Second, the hopper contains almost four cups' worth of coffee below the visible area, inside the machine. That, combined with the grinder's heftier weight, makes it a chore to empty it if you want to change coffees (say, if a guest requests decaf). Not only do you have to turn this brute upside-down, but you also have to turn it every which way so that all the coffee inside the machine works its way out.

But these are minor quibbles. Overall, this is an excellent machine.

Great Flax Grinder, August 14, 2010

This is an excellent, indispensable gadget in our house. My husband used it to grind several pounds of coffee beans that were given to us by friends. Now I use it almost exclusively to grind flax seeds for my chickens. Yes, you read that correctly. I purchased 100 pounds of flax seed from the animal feed store (it was on sale and I could not pass on this great value) and every day I grind about 1/4 cup for my chickens. The hens prefer the ground seed to the whole seed. It takes only about three seconds to produce a fine powder with no overheating. I think excessive heat might reduce the nutritional content of the flax. In short, I highly recommend the Krups Coffee Grinder.

Works great! Not that noisy considering it is grinding, August 12, 2010

This product does a great job for the purpose it was designed. Not noisy as I had expected from others reviews. Would recommend this to anyone that grinds coffee. Have not tried it with spices yet but I'm sure it will suit that nicely also. Price point is fair.

Coffee Bean Grinder - For the Best Coffee Experience

    Coffee Bean Grinder

Do you want to serve tastier coffee in your home without buying a new coffee machine? You can make it happen by using a good coffee bean grinder. It may take longer time for you to prepare your drink compare than using ready to brew pods or capsule, but if you are a true caffeine lover who wants to improve your daily beverage experience, then this machine is really worth it.

The secret behind delicious coffee drinks is started in the bean. It has shell that helps storing its oil and aroma for quite a long time. Many traditional factories store the beans for even up to eight years because they believe this method can enhance the flavor and aroma while also reduce the acidity level.

On the contrary, after the beans already grinded, oxidation process will lessen the amount of the oil and affect the aroma. The oxidation process will work faster if you're not careful enough to keep the ground inside a vacuum container. For that reason, grinding the bean by yourself will ensure you to get the most from your coffee.

In the market, there are two types of coffee bean grinder, both with their own advantages and disadvantages. First, there are blade grinders, which is the most common type you can find in any household. With this type, coffee beans are chopped by sharp blade that rotate at high speed. Compare with the other type, blade grinders are available in relatively low price. However, the grounds produced by this machine will vary in size and may taste bitter because of the frictional heating.

The other type is burred grinder that uses two revolving grinding elements to crush the bean slowly so it won't cause frictional heating. This type is more expensive and need extra maintenance than blade grinder but it grinds the beans into even and uniform grounds. Burred grinder is suitable for various brewing systems such as French press, espresso, drip, and many others.

By understanding the types of coffee bean grinder, you can simply decide one that meets your needs. There are many brands available in the market such as Braun, Capresso, BUNN, and many others. Comparing each one of them side to side will help you get the best machine with the best value.

It is recommended to do some research first through internet to get the right coffee bean grinder with good performance, quality, value, and delivery service for you. Although it is just a small task but you can get huge benefit from it.
